Prime location for Cardiff attractions and nightlife - so if you are looking for a quiet night, get a room at the end of a hall on the back side of the hotel. Rooms on the front (The Friary) overlook a nightclub that goes until 4 AM or later every night. Rooms are a reasonable size and equipped with kettle, tea and coffee fixings, and a fan - no AC. Small windows but can be opened for fresh air. Rooms are clean enough but would benefit from some additional time to more thoroughly clean desktops and remove dust from trim, vents, etc. Room rates vary a lot depending on local events.

Spent 3n on queen street branch. VERY NEAR to Cardiff Castle (atleast 5 minutes walk) same with the Queen Arcade. Very near to restaurants and shops. Overall its great for a place to sleep if your out and about the whole day. Restroom is decent with hot water. Our rooms were on the 4th floor. No security in the entrance which is common for travelodge but reception is on the 1st floor so anyone can access the elevator but good thing there are security doors after you exit the elevators to your floor. To access you need the keycard that you will get once you check In. There is a kettle and 2 free coffee and tea packets in our room. No air-conditioning so be prepared if it’s really hot outside and you booked travelodge. There is a small fan provided but that’s it. No Power port/outlet beside the bed only USB ports (which I really don’t like). Power outlets are under the tv and in the coffee area which is opposite side of the bed. No free slippers or anything like that. A little bit of noise as there is a bar outside but we are not light sleepers so it’s alright.

Always tend to stay here on staff nights out as it’s local to al the city’s bars / clubs . The staff are always welcoming and helpful . My card kept demagnetising but that’s not there fault the only fault I can say is the room was ice cold last night 8/2/26 I turned the small radiator all the way up but did not help I had to sleep in my coat as well as pj bottoms and joggers as I was shivering under the blankets . The pressure on the shower was non existent room 415 but again that’s not the staffs fault it’s just the way it goes some times .

I stayed here during a stressful few days while necessary works were being completed in the flat that I rent with my brother nearby. The staff here were absolutely wonderful and made my time here as comfortable as it could have been – especially when I very unexpectedly had to extend my stay when my letting agent told us last-minute that more time was required to complete the works. James who was working on the reception desk was fantastic, and helped provide the information I needed to be able to add an additional night to my stay and ensured I would remain in the same room. The rooms are very small, but well presented. Unfortunately the key card to my room stopped working on a few occasions, but each time the receptionists were very quick at resolving the situation and always friendly and professional to speak with.

This was my first stay at Travelodge Cardiff, and unfortunately the experience was very unpleasant. Giving 5 stars is for the hotel’s staff, but not for their website and central customer service team. When booking through Google, I selected my intended dates, but after being redirected to the hotel’s website, the system automatically changed my booking to the following week. This is not the first time it has happened, but the second, which suggests an ongoing system issue. I only noticed the incorrect dates at the payment stage. When I tried to log in to amend the booking, the website repeatedly showed “incorrect information” and would not allow me to access my account. I then contacted the central customer service team. The first agent, a male staff member named Henry, was extremely unprofessional and he sounded uninterested on his job, interrupted me before I could finish explaining the issue, and eventually hung up the call when the payment topic came up. This was completely unacceptable. The second agent I spoke to was much better and efficiently helped me complete the payment without unnecessary back-and-forth, which I appreciated. Upon check-in, I realised I had been allocated an accessible (disabled) room. I am unsure whether this was not clearly explained during the call or whether I misheard, as I was only informed that a twin room was available. When I raised this at reception, I was told there were no other rooms available. The front desk staff was polite and genuinely tried to help, and I understand their limitations. I later called the central team again to provide feedback about the entire process. The lady agent with Philippine accent who answered simply stated that the room could not be changed because my stay had already started, as they had amended the booking to an earlier check-in date. When I tried to explain that my concern was about not being informed in advance that this was an accessible room, I was told to contact the complaints department instead. I was not trying to file a complaint at that moment as I was trying to clarify but the response felt dismissive and unprofessional. Additionally, the internet connection was unstable at the reception area (on the second floor). I chose this hotel for its city-centre location to manage my affairs and explore the area, and I had originally considered Premier Inn and Sheraton.Unfortunately, choosing Travelodge turned out to be a disappointing decision. The only positive aspect was the helpful and friendly front desk staff on site, Lauren and the lady with spectacles. The central customer service team, however, seriously needs improvement.
